Teacher Page

This Web Quest is  for teachers to use as a form of differentiation in their classrooms. The students who participate in this activity have either compacted out of their regular class work or love problem solving.  Teachers may keep this in a center for enrichment and extension. The activities are geared towards high-end learners   in the areas of problem solving, math, and science.

I know now, after hours of visiting sites, that the reason teachers don't  use the computer as a source of differentiation more often is because they don't have time to explore sites and create a task for students to complete. This is what I have tried to do. Although I have chosen certain activities for the students to complete, once inside the site the possibilities are endless.

The Task

  • Please create a folder with your name on it to  print out and save all your activities.
  • Read carefully, and  then print  your rubric for evaluation from the index at the top of the page.
  •
  • When you click on the Tic-Tac-Toe Heading at the top of the page, you will see a tic-tac-toe playing board.
  • The three top squares have cool  problem solving activities. The middle three squares have science tasks. The bottom three squares are math.
  • Your goal is to complete any three tasks to win. It may take you several days to complete three.
  • Once you have completed three and your teacher has evaluated your work, you may play again.
  • You could challenge a classmate to a game and see which one of you can complete activities to  win Tic-Tac-Toe first!!
  • When you open a site please complete the stated activity and either print out your work or save it to your folder.

Credits & References

I want to thank two people for their patience and help on my first Web Quest.

Vera Pesek is my wonderful neighbor and friend who originally hooked me up to the Internet, set my programs up, helped me over an d over again out of computer jams. Most recently she installed Microsoft's Front Page Editor for me and spent hours teaching me how to navigate some of its offerings. She works for SAS.

Cindy Waycaster is the technology teacher at my school. You can see her amazing web page for our school at http://wcpss.net/Baucom. I created my game board using of some of the "Cool Sites" she has found for our school.

Thank you to all the companies who created the web sites for our students to grow and learn from.
