advocacy organization in the United States. A not-for-profit association of parents,
educators, students, and other citizens active in their schools and communities, PTA is a
leader in reminding our nation of its obligations to children.
Wake Education Partnership
As a community-based public school advocacy
organization, Wake Education Partnership links human and material resources to strengthen
our public schools. In addition to fostering action-oriented community involvement in the
Wake County Public Schools, the Partnership seeks to leverage the investment of private
contributions to ensure the greatest possible impact in every school.
Specifically, Wake Education Partnership targets efforts to strengthen the achievement of
our children by actively participating as an advocate, convener, coordinator and
facilitator of community involvement in the public schools.
From many voices and interests, the Partnership seeks to bring forth a shared vision for
the future of our schools and concrete steps to get there. To this end, the
recommendations of parents, school and civic leaders, and business people have been
gathered to develop our priorities during the next year.
E-Mail Notification Service
The Wake County Public School System now offers an
e-mail notification service. Using the form below, you can choose to receive timely e-mail
concerning urgent WCPSS news and important events such as school closings, delays in
opening, early dismissals, public hearings and the opening of online forums. The form
below also offers a simple way to unsubscribe from the service.
Important: while e-mail notifications for emergency situations, such as school closings,
are sent out as soon as decisions are reached, Internet conditions can significantly delay
their arrival. Being on the notification list is not a substitute for monitoring your
local media (newspapers, radio, TV and so on) in situations where a delay in opening or
school closing is an obvious possibility (such as when the weather forecast calls for snow
or hurricane).
The School
Connection
The School Connection is a bi-weekly E-newsletter about events and news of interest for
Wake County Schools students, parents and anyone interested in public education. It is

The School Connection will focus on the latest events affecting the school system. In
addition, each edition will feature a round-up of education news from across the country
with links to newspapers and education web sites. School Connection will be posted here
and can be e-mailed to your desktop.
