The mission of NC School Library Information Center collections is to serve the curricular needs of the school community as well as the independent reading interests of the students. The Baucom Elementary School Library has a collection in excess of 14,000 items available for student and teacher use or check out. To extend lessons and promote 21st Century skills twenty plus computers are available for general and database research, word processing and multi-media production, along with various software programs.
The Teacher-Librarian collaborates with classroom teachers to extend curriculum goals in all subjects found in the NC Standard Course of Study. In a fixed schedule, the Media Assistant does much more than just provide support. She is the person who keeps the library running while the Librarian is teaching up to six classes a day. At Baucom, the Librarian and Media Assistant work as a team to make the library experience fun and beneficial to both students and teachers.
