We
Welcome You! Volunteer in the Library Media Center.
Support the PTA
There's
always something to do in
the Library Media Center! We will train you in order to help
us. Volunteer for as much or as little time as you can. You are
welcome and very much appreciated!
Here are some of the most important tasks our faithful Media Center volunteers
handle:
Shelving:
With a yearly circulation of over 40,000 items we have an
ongoing need to shelve materials and make them available for students to
find.
Shelf reading: As careful as students may be, books get out of
order. Pick a small section of the shelves and "read" it to see that it's in the
proper order. Order ensures access; if books are in order students are
able to find what they need.
Assisting students:
There is open access in our Media Center from
8:00 to 3:00 every day. Classes, small groups and individuals visit
throughout the day to check out books or to use our many print and electronic
resources. Be available to help provide guidance to students as needed.
Special projects: There are many special projects to work on in the Media
Center such as adding or deleting books in the collection, creating displays,
pulling materials for special projects and more.
Did you know
proceeds from
the annual fall Book Fair
go into the Library Media Center budget to purchase new items
for our collection? They do! Did you also know that the PTA provides
funding for our annual
Author/Illustrator visit? They do! Meeting an author, hearing a
storyteller, purchasing a brand new book...each of these literacy experiences
remind our children that writing, listening and reading are among the most
important activities they will do as students and adults.
